Commitment to Corporate Citizenship

Our spirit to serve our customers also translates into serving the people who have enabled our growth. The people of Aero ardently believe in giving to the communities that helped us realize our success. As individuals and as an organization.

Since our company’s inception, we have always donated our talent, our time, and our resources to the charitable causes that will continue to build and energize our community—with a special focus on supporting child development and the arts in greater Cincinnati. Our leadership team evaluates each of the opportunities presented to us and determines how Aero can best contribute to that endeavor. Our corporate efforts for the coming years will focus on OneSight and the Paul Lammermeier Foundation.

We take our company mantra to heart. We practice the philosophy “flexible means possible” in our approach to charitable giving, providing the flexibility to support our employees in their personal contributions to the philanthropic organizations that are important to them. Aero also seeks to partner with companies that embrace the values that emulate our own. Together, we look forward to improving the breadth and depth of the impact of our corporate citizenship.

Aero Giving in Action

Pete Acosta, Fulfillment Supervisor

Pete Acosta is deeply involved in giving at the grassroots level. Borne from a friendship with a founding member of the Red Door Church, Pete has immersed himself in this organization’s mission to provide safety and refuge for the lost or stranded.

Pete has taken the initiative to host an event called The Feast. The Feast is a fundraising dinner in which volunteers contribute pot-luck dishes, but more importantly, they donate Kroger gift cards to distribute to people in need. In one year alone, their contributions fed 40 families for the holidays. Pete also engaged his entire family in community outreach, making gift baskets that they hand-delivered to local underserved families. In support of Love Covers, a cause that donates scarves and blankets to the needy, Pete again rallied his family. This time, they learned to knit. Throughout the year, Pete’s family knitted 50 new scarves and also collected gently-used items that they distributed at Cincinnati’s soup kitchens.

Pete appreciates the flexibility that Aero affords him to dedicate his time to these worthy causes.

Jon T. Gimpel, Chairman and CEO

Jon Gimpel is very clear about his approach to charitable giving. He frankly states, “It’s simply a giving back thing. We owe it to society and the people of our community to give them the same kinds of opportunities we were given.”

Aero is proud of Jon’s exhaustive list of personal contributions and the precedent for giving that he has set in the organization. Since he entered the workplace, he has contributed his time to a multitude of charitable organizations. He has been a long-standing Member of the Board of Trustees for the Beechwood Home, Babies Milk Fund, the Cincinnati Fire Museum, Visions (providing daycare to teen mothers so they can complete their high school education), and Art Links (donating free bus service to school children to visit local arts venues). Jon has also served on committees for all these institutions, doing the legwork to ensure their visions become reality.

OneSight

OneSight is committed to delivering clear vision to people around the world who suffer from poor vision simply because they don’t have access to eye care or they simply cannot afford it. To date, OneSight has helped more than seven million people see their world more clearly.

Aero is pleased to contribute to OneSight, a Luxottica Group Foundation, with our financial support. More importantly, we look forward to becoming more deeply involved with their outreach efforts on the ground. In the near future, several members of the Aero team will participate in a OneSight global mission.

Paul Lammermeier Foundation

The Paul Lammermeier Foundation is centered in Lima, Peru, working to provide a home and education for boys who cannot live with their families. These "homeless" kids are academically capable, but behind in school and simply need an opportunity and "safe home" to develop their abilities and talents in a home setting.

This opportunity came to Aero through an old connection. President John Gimpel was a student of Paul Lammermeier at St. Xavier High School in Cincinnati. Even then, Paul was a community service organizer who has inspired thousands of high school students to adopt a spirit of philanthropy throughout their lives.
