Aero gives Macy’s the flexibility and capability to shrink the supply chain
The Challenge
When Macy’s acquired May Department Stores, they needed to convert in-store signage and merchandise UPCs for all departments, brands, and products that varied according to store type and location. This project involved extensive data processing, print production 29-million variable imaged signs, and 15,500 versions to be distributed across 300+ store locations. Aero was given 60-days to complete the project and a two-week shipping window.
The Solution
Aero not only had the system architecture to manage that quantity of variable data and process in a timely manner, we also boasted a quality-rigorous staff who facilitated the kitting and fulfillment complexities and last minute changes of the job, ultimately ensuring the pack-out was accurate, on-time, and had no surprises. We were able to shrink the supply chain for Macy’s by managing the commercial printer, inbound and outbound shipping, variable digital print needs and store-specific pack-outs in-house, and in-store scheduled delivery and set-up of material.
The Results
The Aero solution resulted in Macy’s saving over 35% in freight costs because of our Midwestern shipping location and our cost negotiation with our freight partners, plus the expected labor costs to produce signage for all stores came in under budget. And even with a project this fast and this complex, we received a customer satisfaction score of 100%. |
